Subjects Taught

My elementary, junior and senior high schools were in the Seaman Unified School District in Topeka, Kansas attending the same high school as my parents.

In 1973 I graduated from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas with a Bachelors in Music Education.  My major instrument was the pipe organ.  After graduation, I attended various other universities seeking higher education in music.

In 1993 I graduated from the University of Santa Monica, Santa Monica, California with a Master's Degree in Spiritual Psychology.

From college I taught three years at Northern Hills Junior High School, the same junior high I attended.  My classes were 7th grade General Music, 8th grade chorus and 9th grade chorus.

Additionally, for five years, I was the choir director and organist for Saint Andrew's Lutheran church in Los Angeles, California.

Upon arrival in Safford, I was the choir director and sometimes accompanist for First United Methodist Church for three years.

This is my first year teaching elementary music.

Born, raised and educated in Topeka, Kansas, I traveled west to Aspen, CO after teaching junior high music for three years straight from college.  In Aspen, I worked as an assistant to a real estate broker, was a private secretary and was a police dispatcher for a short period of time.  After six years in the Rocky Mountains, I moved further west to Los Angeles.  My only job lasted 24 years as an executive assistant to the owner and president of a safety products manufacturer.  My boss, Mark Magidson, was also a film producer.  I worked on three films: Chronos in IMAX format, Baraka and Samara.  As Mark's assistant I worked on product and design patents.

While living in Los Angeles I further explored personal growth and spiritual development through Landmark Education, Agape International Spiritual Center, PAX, Jennifer Living Colors, T Harv Eker and others.  I also had the opportunity to travel to Kenya on a humanitarian mission, explore the south of China, Thailand and other short trips to Europe and Mexico.

I am a member of Gila Valley Chorale under the direction of Jenny Keith and have sung in EAC's Handel's Messiah for the last five years.

As a board member of the Gila Valley Arts Council this past year, I am currently serving as Residency Chair.

Other past activities are the Women's Club of Safford as Arts Chair, United Methodist Women and I have been a fund raiser and supporter for the Boys and Girls Club of Safford and helped organize the first fund raiser for Gila Valley Chorale.
